Passion turned into a career

I've been kind of a nerd ever since I was a kid. Books, the internet, music and games were more interesting than spending time with other people. Though not academically schooled in the art of word weaving, I've always had a passion for writing.

In school I was the weird kid, always writing poetry and lame hip-hop lyrics in a notebook with scruffy edges from carrying it everywhere. Back then, just like I had no idea how to approach a girl, I also didn't realise you could make a living from writing. But I was already practicing for the future.

2013 was a disruptive year for me. I quit college due to overall mental exhaustion and stress. It was a finance degree, so I decided I'd just go trade stocks instead of it. After a year of trading someone else's hundreds of thousands of $s, it turned out I had no wolf blood in me.

This led me towards a more creative path. It started with a short episode as marketing manager for a college radio. Doing podcasts with local start-up founders, I came across a content marketing job at one of the fastest growing start-ups in Wroclaw. They did outbound lead generation.

Almost two years later I needed change again, tired of being confined to standardised work hours. I quit and became a freelance content marketer. That was in 2016, and I haven't looked back since. My current goals are to:

  • keep improving my content creation & marketing skills
  • find great clients, preferably in Tech
  • build passive revenue streams
